Utility Scam
Friday, June 4, 2010

SECO Electric Cooperative has issued a fraud alert concerning a scam ran on their customers as well as utilities customers.
Persons posing as a utility representative call saying power is scheduled for disconnect due to returned payments from the bank.
The scam artist then requests checking account or credit card information to process payment.
SECO warns customers DO NOT GIVE FINANCIAL INFORMATION ON THE PHONE and make no calls to 800 numbers recommended by such callers.
